Creating a must-do list for spring

Dandelions in Grass

The weather has been crazy good here recently, which reminded me of the importance of planning ahead. Although this quick burst of hot temperatures (20 degrees in the UK in February, are you kidding?!) was only temporary, it’s a great reminder to start getting ready for the warmer days of late spring and summer.

On my must-do list is buy things. I know a lot of people say to spend money on experiences, and that being minimal is the way to go, but honestly I find the opposite to be true. If I’m wearing old scraggy clothes, I just don’t feel as good. If I’m trying to get a task done, it’s far more motivational to me to have quality, shiny new tools for it, rather than struggling to find, clean, and fix up old ones. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you do what’s right for you.

All the things of my must-do list for spring this year are related to our house. Our house has been very neglected over the past two years, because we’ve had no time to keep on top of things due to starting our own business. So I’ll be buying a ton of new cleaning supplies, getting the landing carpet refreshed, and getting quotes for new windows because the glass has needed replacing for so long.

At the top of my must-buy list are a couple of new household gadgets. Our old lawnmower is on its way out, so I’ve been looking at getting a new one. The key here is to go for quality (not making that mistake again!) without paying a ridiculous price. After many hours of research, I’ve narrowed it down to a few lawnmowers at Latest Deals, because they have a good balance between quality and price. Our garden isn’t the biggest in the world, but I expect family to be borrowing it regularly throughout the summer as the grass around here seems to grow really quickly for some reason!

The second thing on my list is a Dyson vacuum. My asthma and hayfever start to get crazy at this time of year, and living in a house with the twin combo of four cats and wooden floors mean that the dust and fur are endless. We’ve been using a little handheld vacuum cleaner for years, but we need something with proper suction because I suffered so much last year with my allergies. I can’t wait to be at the stage where we can hire a cleaner again, and this time not be embarrassed about the vacuum cleaner we’re presenting her with (our last one refused to use ours and insisted on bringing her own!)

The last thing on my must-buy list is a new laundry bag. I’ve been carrying heaps of laundry downstairs just in my arms, and I’m tired of having to go back and pick up all the dropped socks! It’s definitely time for a small buy that makes everyday life a lot easier.

What’s on your must-do list for spring? Drop me a tweet and let me know!
